This Street View shot of me in my garden was taken last summer. Yes, I do feel a little icky about it — invasion of my privacy.

We’re testing out how to use Google Maps with our sites today. So here is a very simple Google Map, showing the location of the Hotel Iris:

And here is the same view from Google Street View:

And here’s the same map as rendered by the open source project OpenStreetMap:
“Amani Massoud is currently the Deputy Director of the Right to Health Program at the Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights, an NGO in the field of Social and Economic Rights in Egypt. Recently she has completed a master’s degree in Human Rights jointly from the Universities of Gothenburg (Sweden), Roehampton (the UK) and Tromso (Norway) and holds another graduate degree in Public Health from the University of Alexandria. Prior to her moving to Europe to pursue her studies in human rights, she has worked as Research Assistant to the Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, a development/cultural organization in Egypt and has been involved with a number of local and international organizations and associations, like the Sustainable Development Association in Egypt, the World Academy for Young Scientists, the Egyptian Association for Continuing Education and has worked with two charity organizations in the UK, Health Prom and Cardboard Citizens. Amani is also a freelance writer with a number of English language local magazines in Egypt.”
What if I want to use a blog format to make a magazine (to avoid the headaches of paying/employing a programmer)? Can I add tabs as if they are separate “chapters” or articles in a magazine (eg, instead of “Locations,” or “Delivery Terms” insert “Education,” “Upcoming Events,” etc., and more than the 2 in the template), to avoid having one long vertical string of articles, and their losing their priority status (ie, “lead story” gets pushed down farther and farther)?
Why can’t I find “Appearance” under “Tools” or near it? (I want to change the font.)
Suggestions? Thanks, Mary
Hmm, can’t crack it. Or can I?
Here is Suw Charman-Anderson’s presentation from today, titled “Social Media for Collaboration and Information Management.”
